 Jill  Jill P. Clapp, Director

A native of Illinois, Jill came to California to study education at Concordia University in Irvine, where she met her husband, Allen. She received her B.A. and began work on her master’s degree there. Jill has been at St. Paul since 1990 and has been director since 1996. She enjoys hiking, animals and playing bass guitar in St. Paul's Praise Band.

 maria  Maria Nazario, Administrative Assistant & Teacher

Maria, born in Puerto Rico, has 22-plus years of experience in home day care. She has three beautiful daughters and speaks English and Spanish. She likes to read and clean. Maria enjoys spending time with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. Maria serves both as the CDC administrative assistant and as a teacher.

Nara  Nara Bodi, Teacher

Nara was born in Mongolia and moved to the US in 2006. Nara is married and has two children, Misheel and Tuguldur. She graduated from Technical University of Mongolia where she earned a Bachelor's in textile engineering. Recently, Nara attended Diablo Valley College and earned an Associate's degree in child development. Since then, Nara has been a preschool teacher for the last 3 years. When Nara is not at the CDC, she enjoys spending time with her family.

Jocelyn  Jocelyn Chen, Teacher

Jocelyn graduated from Chinese Medicine School of China and has been working with children since 2011. Initially, she was interested in working as a preschool teacher in a primary classroom. She took both ECE and Infant & Toddler training in a Montessori program. She really enjoys the time teaching and learning with children all through the year. Inspired by the children, Jocelyn continues learning and extending her knowledge to each stage. Jocelyn started working at CDC in August, 2016 and her favorite thing is travelling to different places.

Johanna  Johanna White, Teacher

Johanna was born and raised in Finland and moved to California with her family when she was 16. She went to Los Altos High School and, while there, worked at St. Paul CDC as a Teacher's Aide. Now she is back for the second time after receiving her Bachelor and Masters degrees from University of Westminster in London. She enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and the dogs, as well as cooking vegetarian, gluten-free meals.

Ellen  Ellen Smith, Teacher

Ellen is California native and was born in Verdugo Hills, CA. From a very young age, she knew she wanted to be a teacher. Growing up watching her mom and grandparents teach, she wanted to reap the same rewards they did. She graduated in 2002 from Concordia University in Irvine, CA with a B.A. in Liberal Studies-Elementary Education and completed her CA Teaching Credential in 2003. She has taught 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades over a six year career before becoming a full-time stay-at-home mom. When not in the classroom, she loves spending time with her family, especially, on a road trip from CA to MN taken every summer. Ellen spends her down time reading about and researching essential oils, working out at the gym, cooking, folding mounds of laundry or cleaning the house.

Mollie  Mollie Hillman, Teacher

Mollie Hillmann graduated from Concordia University Nebraska with her BFA in Graphic Design and Illustration. Since then, she has tutored students from kindergarten through 8th grade and has also released her first children’s picture book. Mollie recently joined St. Paul’s CDC as an afternoon teacher. When she is not teaching children, she is busy illustrating new books for them! Mollie enjoys reading, drawing, and adventurous roadtrips with her family.

Aaron  Rev. Aaron R. Smith, Pastor

Born in Minnesota and raised in Southern California, Pastor Aaron has served at St. Paul since 2006 after his graduation from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. He is married to Ellen, a Lutheran-trained educator. Pastor Aaron brings a rich perspective to his duties with the St. Paul CDC: he has been a CDC parent since 2012; he was raised in a bilingual home as have many of our CDC students; and our church body, the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod - operates the largest Protestant school system in the United States.

Andrew  Andrew Colandrea, Business Administrator

Andrew, a native of the Silicon Valley, grew up at St. Paul. He attended San Jose State University and graduated with a Bachelor's in business administration and accounting. While he is a recent addition to the St. Paul staff, Andrew has worked for the CDC as the Bookkeeper since 2009. When Andrew isn't making life hilariously challenging for Jill, he enjoys listening to music, watching movies and spending time with friends.
